The Project

General overview

This project is meant to disseminate information about the role of sustainable agricultural practices and that of local smallholder farmers all over the world in protecting and preserving natural resources for future generations.

Moreover, the MDGs are usually discussed separately and therefore this project is aiming to deepen the relationship between the MDG1 and MDG7 while also using an integrated method to address the causes of the MDGs in order to make development issues a collective priority.

In line with its pioneering approach to international development cooperation and global education, Kopin is the first Maltese organisation to link poverty eradication with environmental sustainability, encouraging a common action in both fields.

The project is funded by the European Commission and is being implemented by:

  • COSPE as lead agency and another 7 project partners from Malta, Italy and Poland.

Specific objectives

  1. Supporting small-scale farmers in increasing their awareness about sustainability and good rural practice. This aims at contributing to the protection and preservation of world natural resources for future generations while minimising the impact of climate change.
  2. Emphasising the important link between agriculture and climate change.
