KA2 – Strategic Partnership for Youth

Duration: 24 months (1st January 2017 – 31st December 2018)

The attention of European civil society and politicians in the past years has been captured by the phenomenon of forced migration, in view of the large numbers of displaced people entering the continent. A large part of those people are young people, not only minors under 18 years of age, but also young adults up to 30 years old.

The last decade has seen rapid change in the needs, motivations and experiences of young refugees and it is imperative that youth workers and youth practice, integrate practice that address these. Excellence in practice with refugees and asylum seeker youth is visible across Europe but is not consolidated in an accessible form.

The objective of the PAPYRUS is empowering youth workers, volunteers and practitioners working with refugees and asylum seekers. This will contribute to raising the standards of youth work practices with the target group, but also to have positive effects in fighting segregation and discrimination of displaced youth.

In order to reach the above mentioned results, the project consortium will create a web platform, easily accessible and user friendly, to include all the different outputs of the projects, namely:

  • Mapping of existing practices of youth work with refugees and asylum seekers and comparative analysis of those
  • Multi-language Training Modules, focusing on different aspects of the work with refugees and asylum seekers:
    • Multicultural understandings and working in Multicultural Environments with Youth Refugees
    • Social inclusion of Refugee Families and Young People
    • Socioeconomic Empowerment of Youth Refugees
    • Providing Psycho-social support for Youth Refugees
    • Abuse Prevention and Safeguarding of Youth Refugees and Asylum Seekers
  • Presentation of the results and discussion with stakeholders, academics, civil society and people interested in the topic

All the resources produced will be free and easily accessible to youth workers, volunteers and practitioners around Europe and will be developed through an interactive process that will engage stakeholders as well as beneficiaries, in order to make the resources relevant and up to date.
